Boomer is Tyra’s littermate brother, he is a very loving and laid back boy. He comes unglued whenever he sees his grandma”Pup Pup” . That’s me as I start them coming to me by saying “Pup Pup”. Boomer has done very well with showing attaining his championship in October 2007.

Boomer is a lovely dark muzzled, red wheaten boy, and is maturing into a gorgeous specimen of Rhodesian Ridgeback, with a temperament equally as loving making him a true ambassador to our breed! He has the softness that is so endearing to those he meets. At the Tradex show 2007 he was charming the young and elderly alike, being photographed by the local paper kissing an elderly lady in a wheelchair that had show dogs in her younger years, she beamed with happiness as Boomer really took to her!!

I hope to show Boomer as he matures into the handsome Ridgeback, I know him to be.

Boomer is loved and owned by Chris, Kim & Cody Attfield, who have done a wonderful job of raising Boomer.

Rhuubii’s Health Checks

Rhuubii is our foundation bitch, we looked for over a year to find a breeder who had puppies, and consider ourselves blessed we found Vanfax Kennels and Kristine Nielsen.

Rhuubii has an amazing personality, and not one you will soon forget, I know I won’t ever forget her! She is smart as a whip, sometimes too smart for her own good! She will play tricks on people, and communicate her likes and dislikes so that you know what she wants at all times!

Rhuubii might be a smaller bitch in stature, but not in personality!! She has had an amazing litter, and hopefully another soon! Unfortunately, or fortunately she has passed on her”smarts” to her kids!

There is nothing on earth that Rhuubii likes better than a day filled with chase games and followed by an afternoon and evening sitting next to the fire! In fact she gets so hot she’s panting but won’t leave the fire.

Rhuubii has completed her advanced obedience classes, not without trials and tribulations, being that her “smarts” got in the way of her listening to mommy!! I am hoping to have her CGN testing done in the near future, so we’ll see if she wants to play games with me again!!

Rhuubii received her Canadian Championship with relatively few showings. On November 20, 2004 in Cloverdale at just 10 months of age Rhuubii was shown by Kristine Nielsen to Brazilan Judge L Silva, winning Winners Female over 5 open bitches, and winning Best Puppy in group! Mr. Silva commented to Kristine, that Rhuubii was lovely! He loved her dark mask and her “sparky” personality! She turned on the “charm” with her cheering squad at the sidelines, clapping. It was all she needed to show her heart out taking a 5 point win that day!

I recall a show in late January 2005, Kristine had to work on the Sunday and suggested that I show Rhuubii that day, what a day of “humble pie” I had to deal with! Rhuubii thought it might be “fun” to perform for mommy and the judge! Rhuubii bounced all the way down & back biting my sleeve all the way, not once but twice!! I was so embarrassed and all the judge could do was laugh and say she was enjoying herself! She might have, but I wasn’t. I started taking handling classes, as I now had 2 RR’s and thought I better learn how to do this. Rhuubii completed her championship the following spring under Canadian Judge Carmen Haller in Burns Lake, B.C.

With Rhuubii you just never know what she is going to come up with next, but it’s always interesting and we love her dearly, in fact she was so much fun we thought 2 would be more fun than 1, and so they start to multiply, and the fun increases!

I left on Dec 21,2004 to pick up our new little pup, not yet knowing for sure which one, Steve said you decide, I know it will be the right one, and Sere is.

Sere is not as confident as Rhuubii, which has made her a challenge to learn to show, but understandable given her pack position under her more confident alpha sis Rhuubii.

Sere’s show career was off to a slower start not only because she had a novice handler(me), but because she was less confident. However once we started working as a team, and with a summer off, Sere charged forward completing her championship at Tradex in October 2006, going Winner’s Female for a 4 point win! Sere was my first owner/handled champion!

In November 2006 we went to Monroe, Washington with Kristine showing Sere. I said to Kristine quietly that Sere didn’t look anything like the other females at the show. Kristine said that’s either good or bad, we’ll see. Well it was really good!! Sere not only won Winner’s Female, but Best of Winners (beating all the class dogs Male & female) in a very male dominated breed! That was her first U.S. major!! Well Sere was on fire that weekend, because she repeated her win the next day!

Our first weekend of with our newly Can Championed girl, Sere won Winner’s Female/Best of Winner’s both days! Saturday , the Judge was Donelle Richards for a 3 point win, Sunday, the Judge was Gayle Bontecou for a 3 point win. Not a bad way to start her U.S. title, 6 points and 2 majors in one weekend!

Well Sere must love the Monroe showsite, because in 2007 under Judge Monica Canestrini she won Winner’s Female for a 4 point win!

Sere now has 12 points, 3 majors, as we start up again with her showing in the U.S. this fall, 2008. Sere had her first litter on June 25, 2008

And what a litter it was!! We met her”man” Leo during our travels in the summer of 2007 at the Vernon show. We liked what we saw with Leo at first glance, but when we saw his pedigree, we knew this was the match we were looking for! Over the winter, we e-mailed back and forth with Leo’s family/ Susan Ralston(Leo’s co-owner). Leo and family visited us over thanksgiving weekend 2007.

In April of 2008, Sere came into season and we were off to Utah. I also took Tyra to show at the Beehive Cluster show. We stayed with the Nieminski’s for 2 1/2 weeks for breeding and later for showing Tyra.

The Nieminski’s have become such close friends we consider them family and ourselves truly blessed to have met them!

On June 25th, Sere had a long labour, producing 10 pups, 9 show ridges, and 1 pet. No dermoids, kinks, etc. There was white, but not excessive. This was Leo’s and his father’s stamp on this litter.This is an incredible litter, when Susan Ralston came to evaluate the litter she was very complimentary as to the quality of pups! We will be showing these pups in 2009, so we’ll see how they do!! Hopefully following in their parents footsteps!

Sere has a soft personality, easily hurt, and always loving and affectionate with those she knows. Sere takes a while to trust strangers, but once she does, there are always lots of kisses and love ears for all!

Tyra’s Health Checks

Tyra is from our very first litter. We knew we were going to have to keep this one, as her naughtiness showed up very early in life!! At her first sanction match the judge asked her name, I said “Tyra”, Judge said as in “Banks?”, I replied “no, as in Tyrant!!”. She suggested she should be called “Naughty Nadia” after her own daughter. Well it stuck, “Naughty Nadia” even answers to it!!

Tyra was not the easiest dog to show as a puppy. She backed up every time the judge would come near her! But with handling classes and perseverance, Tyra has become a pleasure to show, charming the judges with her inquisitive personality and face full of expression! But her movement is even more outstanding! Judge Roger Hartinger commented on her “effortless” movement, along with her expressive look!

Tyra finished her Can Championship at 14 months of age in Calgary on the last day of a 5 show weekend! To say we had a good day would be an understatement!! Tyra won Winner’s Female/Best of Winners. Her brother Boomer won Winner’s Dog, and her sister Riley won Reserve Winner’s Female!

We have started showing Tyra in the U.S. and at this point she has 4 points with 2 wins @ 2 points. Always camera shy, it’s a challenge to say the least to have a picture recording the win! Tyra has been very “NAUGHTY” about pictures being taken. To be expected with “Naughty Nadia”!!

Tyra has also earned her CGN title at 22 months of age, impressing the examiner’s with her behavior, they suggested she is likely ready to work on her obedience levels. I’m not convinced and am not sure I’m ready for her “Naughty” behavior!

Tyra has a wonderful personality who loves everyone, dogs and people alike. Sometimes timid initially but before long winning hearts over time and again! Always admired for her “looks” by many, those who know ridgebacks, and those who don’t!

Dakota’s Pedigree

Dakota has the sweetest personality along with exceptional conformation. She is nearly 8 months old and already starting her “show” career. Dakota has been taking her handling classes for 2 months now, and loves to stand on the table, we can’t go past them without her veering of toward the table.
She is very self-confident in herself and appears to really enjoy her classes, so I hope this along with her substantial substance and conformational attributes will be our winning combination. Look for Dakota to start showing in 2009!

Dakota has completed her Can Ch. at 12 months of age, in Prince George, B.C. Look for her in the specials ring in Canada, and we will as start showing her in the U.S.

Dakota’s littermate brother, another of our puppies from Sere’s & Leo’s outstanding litter! Blaze is turning into quite a handsome boy, who we hope will do well in the show ring, I know he already has those he meets, falling in love with him!!

Blaze was a quiet boy when he was with his littermates, but now that he has his new family, his personality has flourished and he is a very happy, self confident young boy!

Rocky is also a littermate of Dakota, and Blaze from our amazing Sere/ Leo litter! He is a very handsome boy! Rocky won over his family very quickly, and as true to form for ridgebacks, Rocky is now taken to sleeping in the bed with his girls!

Rocky has already started handling classes, enjoying the attention immensely! We look forward to showing Rocky in 2009!  Rocky has started his show career, and is off to a great starting taking BOW of his very first show!!  Keep up the good work Rocky!!

REGGIE HAS ACHIEVED AM GRAND CHAMPIONSHIP WITHIN A MONTH OF AKC STARTING THE PROGRAM!!!  WAY TO GO REGGIE & NORA!!!!

Reggie is another of the littermate boys from our amazing Sere/Leo litter! Reggie lives in Utah, with his wonderful family, Nora, Eva, Andrzej Nieminski. Nora co-owns Leo, with Susan Ralston VMD also of Utah.

Reggie has wormed his way into his “daddy’s” heart rather quickly, and has learned to be respectful with their family cat “kitkat”! Reggie is turning heads, and making new friends on each of his outings with his family! Reggie’s other sister Kenya, Ashanti’s Star of Kenya is a frequent companion of Reggie and Leo for walks and visits! Both Reggie and Kenya have now completed their CGC titles at  9 months of age!! Way to go Nora, Reggie and Kenya!!  We are so proud!!

Reggie has already been traveling to show sites and lure coursing events with the Nieminski’s, and I’m sure he will follow in his Daddy’s footsteps before too long!!

Reggie attended his first show at the tender age of 6 months, and made quite an impression in Palm Springs going Best Puppy in Breed over 34 other puppies! Reggie then went on to win a Third place in Puppy Group, quite a win for a young boy, the hound group had a good showing of hounds, who were older dogs!!

Reggie was also shown in Colorado, winning his classes, and going Reserve Winner’s Dog to a 5 point major!!  Reggie is being noticed by many, with compliments as to what a nice boy he is!!  We are very proud of Reggie and Nora both, and wish them continued success in the ring, and in performance sports, later down the road!

Over the Easter weekend Reggie, Kenya and Nora went to the Las Legas show, where they both did incredibly well! However Reggie really stole the show by winning Best Puppy in Show. What and incredible feat for a puppy so young!  Congrats Nora and Reggie!!

Reggie had an unbelievable weekend in May, in his hometown. Reggie took WD/BW/BOB two days, also a GR 3 on the Sat, WD/BW for one day for a combined total of 12 points in one weekend!! WOW!!! He also won Best Brace in show with his daddy 2 days.  Kenya took Reserve to Winner’s Female twice.

Reggie, Kenya & Leo came up to Medicine Hat to complete Leo’s Can Ch. in May Leo is now a Can CH. and Kenya has taken the points two days running, we’ll see how the weekend ends!  We are so proud of Nora & the “fur kids”!!

Reggie has now completed his Can Ch. at the age of 13 months in Surrey,B.C. Taking breed over some of the top BIS Ridgebacks in Canada, including the currently rated #1 Ridgeback in Canada.  Reggie won Breed 3 out of 4 days, along with 2 Gr3 placements and a Gr4 placement, for a total of 15 points!  On the Thursday and Sunday of the show weekend, Reggie took breed, while his sister took Best of Opposite to her brother!  Way to go guys, keeping it all in the ” Ashanti Family ” We are so incredibly proud of this amazing litter from Sere & Leo, what an incredible litter this is turning out to be!!
